Review and analysis of the literature on construction workers' exposure to crystalline silica: preparatory activity Abstract Following a request by the CSST, initiated by the health network, and after discussions with the initiators of this request, this project aims to develop an activity protocol for reviewing and analyzing the literature on construction workers’ exposure to crystalline silica. The researchers want to do a critical analysis of the studies consulted by the network until 2004, and clear up the confusion surrounding the levels of exposure to dust in general, and to silica (quartz), by identifying the sampling and analytical methods. They also want to identify the different tasks likely to be most hazardous, identify the exposure levels, and determine whether the control measures can significantly reduce the exposure levels. The results of the project will enable physicians in the health network to develop means and solutions for the medical surveillance of construction workers exposed to crystalline silica.
