Occupational forestry accidents in 1994: Analysis of accident scenarios on the basis of CSST accident records Abstract In attempt to reduce the perpetually high number of accidents in the forestry sector, the joint sectoral prevention committee has ashed the IRSST to draw up a profile of the problems related to forestry accidents and identify dangerous situations. Working with the CSST's accident records, an analytical checklist of the circumstances surrounding forestry accidents will be developed. Multivariate analysis of accident data will be performed to calculate indices of risk and severity, and define accident scenarios in terms of socioeconomic, circumstantial and organisational variables. These accident profiles will help the sectoral committee establish intervention priorities. A tool for the follow-up of accidents will also be developed, and will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of existing preventive measures in this sector.
