Abstract

At the request of the Association paritaire pour la santé et la sécurité du travail, secteur de la construction, [Joint Health and Safety Association, Construction Sector], the Association des entrepreneurs en construction du Québec [Association of Construction Contractors of Québec], companies and labour associations, the IRSST will coordinate the validation of fall-arrest equipment, consisting of a retractable strap which wraps itself around the pole and tightens in case of a fall, developed by Hydro-Québec to improve the safety of linemen. A test protocol will be developed to verify the system's effectiveness and safety benefit. The test results will be used to define optimal usage practices and materials, and devise a quality control system.
