Back pain is a favoured research issue because the exact mechanisms that cause it are not well known. Back loadings, as well as their accumulation, can provide relevant information for a better understanding of the appearance of back pain and its prevention.

The objective of this study is to design and validate an ambulatory method for estimating back loading by integrating the electromyographic signals of a minimum number of back muscles into the kinematic information obtained using the posture dosimeter recently developed by the IRSST’s biomechanical laboratory.
