Development of a sampling and analysis strategy for the main processes producing or using chromates in Québec Abstract The study reported here is the result of a request by the CSST committee responsible for reviewing the Regulation Concerning the Quality of the Work Environment for advice concerning occupational exposure to chromates. The systematic approach to the environmental monitoring of hexavalent chromium in workplaces that was developed takes into account the solubility and stability of these compounds, their complex composition in some industrial processes, the limits of analytical specificity, and current permissible exposure limits.
