Design, production and field-trials of a prototype lateral seat-suspension system for off-road vehicles Abstract Drivers of off-road vehicles are subjected to low-frequency, high-amplitude vibrations. Although a seat-suspension system that attenuates vibration in the vertical plane has been developed, it is essential to continue research on the development of a suspension system that significantly attenuates the level of harmful lateral vibration transmitted to drivers.Previous IRSST-funded research resulted in the development of a prototype that exhibited a number of limitations. In this project, the prototype will be improved and subjected to laboratory trials and field-trials. The suspension system will be equipped with adjustable dynamic dampers and could therefore be installed on different types of off-road vehicles.
