Design of a forestry vehicle seat-suspension system capable of effective attenuation of lateral and vertical vibration caused by terrain irregularities Abstract The high vibration exposure received by forestry vehicle drivers causes back and abdominal problems. Currently available seats provide inadequate attenuation of this vibration.Laboratory simulations of different types of currently available vertical-suspension systems and of selected principles of lateral suspension were performed. A mathematical model of ideal seat characteristics was developed, and improvements to existing models identified. These results will facilitate design of a lateral-suspension system.
