Analytical development for determining blood beryllium Abstract This project constitutes a corollary to a current study, namely the “Evaluation of beryllium toxicity as a function of it chemical form and particle size” (099-320). It involves developing an analytical method for determining beryllium in the blood, using it for the needs of the study in question, and then implementing it at the IRSST. Study of this metal’s toxicokinetics in relation to different physicochemical characteristics of the inhaled dusts will yield interesting data. The expertise thus acquired at the IRSST can also be used to establish new methods for determining metal concentrations in the blood.
