Abstract

Estimation of the physical risk associated with work activities is based mainly on two-dimensional means, since three-dimensional means are too complex to be used in an actual situation. It is therefore difficult to pinpoint clearly the extent of the risk that an action may produce. The authors have adapted a three-dimensional evaluation method based on video recordings for eventual use in the workplace with a minimum number of cameras. They have examined the feasibility of evaluating three-dimensional kinematics of the human body using a single video camera. The work will continue, but because of the results already obtained, the estimation of back postures of workers performing varied tasks without burdening them with measuring instruments can be foreseen, by using a single video camera.
